We believe that every answer for a broken life can be found in Jesus Christ through His Word.
Freedom Academy exists to let young people experience the love of Christ and find a place to start over and have a second chance at life.
Since 1981, Freedom Village has offered young people that second chance through its residential program for teenagers, Freedom Academy. Young people that come to Freedom Academy must come voluntarily with a heart that says ‘I want a chance to start over’. Young people cannot be forced to come and stay at Freedom Academy, but must choose to stay and comply with the standards.
When young people make that choice, they will find that they are loved and guided by a caring staff who has dedicated their lives to helping them find Jesus Christ. There will be rewards and encouragement alongside discipline and correction. And Jesus Christ and the Bible will be at the center of it all.
Young people will be expected to respectfully participate in all activities that go on at Freedom Academy, most importantly church and chapel. They will be exposed to the message of Christ on a daily basis and will have the opportunity to hear His Word spoken by a number of different messengers, from our staff pastors to visiting speakers and evangelists, all with the goal of seeing Christ be formed in the heart of young people who, hopefully, choose to follow Him all of their lives.
Along the way, the young people will be taught responsibility through chores and service projects; they will learn teamwork through sports and work; and they will gain character through the application of Biblical principles in everything they do. And through it all, they will enjoy themselves and get to be kids – singing, playing sports, going to summer camp, etc – without the burdens of their past troubles.
We are blessed to have watched so many young people grow up to follow Him and to go on to lead productive lives. Some go on to college, some to the military, others to the workforce, and some go on to serve Jesus Christ in full time ministry.
